Dear Sir:
As the initiator of the petition to establish a policy of freedom of religious expression in Pinellas County Schools during religious holidays, I thank you for adopting a new policy on religious freedom with a unanimous vote on the second reading December 8, 2009.
The 648 petitions were presented to the School Board at its May 8, 2007 meeting. I also thank the Alliance Defense Fund Allied Attorney and the Liberty Counsel who wrote the original "Model Religion Policy" that served as a guide for the Pinellas County School Board.
Teaching about religion is a legitimate part of a complete education, also reflecting case law, as religion makes up a large fraction of culture. Hopefully our children's and grand children's education will be more fair and balanced in the future.
Respectfully yours,
Nancy J. Davis
