    Welcome to our Hisways USA, Inc.'s eNewsLetter for children, parents teachers and administrators in public education.

When asked to choose between contrasting words to describe their vision of the ideal church, a majority of Millennials chose the following:

  • Sanctuary, 77% (auditorium, 23%)
  • Classic, 67% (trendy, 33%)
  • Quiet, 65% (loud, 35%)
  • Casual, 64% (dignified, 36%)
  • Modern, 60% (traditional, 40%)

"Most Millennials don’t look for a church facility that caters to the whims of pop culture.  They want a community that calls them to deeper meaning.”  says Clint Jenkin, Ph.D., vice president of research at Barna Group.
Except for "Casual", it appears that the Millennials want the conservative or traditional atmosphere but want it labeled "Modern".

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker in his budget address on Tuesday said that he removed funding for Smarter Balanced in his proposed budget.    He said, “..our budget removes funding for the Smarter Balanced test, which is connected to Common Core.  We also include legal language making it clear that no school district in the state has to use these standards, which are set by people from outside the state.”

"No matter how much money we poured into that hole, things just got worse," he said.  (So, will he defund the FDOE?.)

(Last month these two OK bills got mixed up.)  OK state senator authors bill to allow Bible as classroom subject  January 26, 2015,  An Oklahoma state senator has introduced a bill that would protect public schools from lawsuits when the Bible is taught as history.  (Track this bill.) SB48 ,   Schools; providing immunity from liability for offering certain elective course (.rtf).  (Ask your state representative if he or another conservative would sponsor a similar bill in your state.)
