Howdy Folks,
       This is our 2015 August eNewsLetter which is still reporting the failures of Common Core and the deficiencies of The Florida K12.com Virtual School.  The popularity and growth in Common Core resistance, repeal and state nullification efforts has produced several ongoing monthly update sections as listed in the "PS" sections below.  Because of the ongoing sections, the focus this month will be to look closer at the problems of transparency and accountability to the parents and people using The Florida K12.com Virtual School program.  Home Schooling has always been presented in August as an option for parents of the regular Federally indoctrinated public schools; and now, it is a pragmatic relief from Common Core.  People! how much parental motivation is necessary for them to choose anything else than public schools?  
         The FloridaK12.com Virtual School's huge potential to be a life saver for parents' educational needs by providing FREE online schools and curricula has not seen much of an improvement in transparency and accountability.
        The current information about K12 is: K12.com/about... is a Florida LLC ( Florida Virtual Instruction Programs Disclosure Information ) which has a K12 Florida LLC Nonsectarian Policy (pdf) which cites the  FL Statutes:  Chapter 1000   K-20 GENERAL PROVISIONS,   Part I:  Section 1000.05, F.S  nondiscrimination policy.  Both of them are identical in that they mention: race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, disability, or marital status;however, when they get to their K 12 Florida LLC Employment Policies and Practices Related to Anti-Discrimination REVISED 2.10.13  (pdf), they include "sexual orientation".  If  sexual orientation" discrimination charges start flying around suddenly discrimination is diminished and FL's criminal law is paramount as it's a gang related hate crime.  Whereas mediocre discrimination could have been handled amicability by the administration, now it's a crime where arrest and jail are possible outcomes.  See  FL Statutes Chapter 874  CRIMINAL GANG ENFORCEMENT AND PREVENTION 874.03  Again we have suddenly gone from the potential of amicably working through a situation to a hate crime and potential arrest etc..  I'm thinking that the employees and staff of K12.com could easily be unnecessarily harmed.  What is the potential danger to students and parents?
        So what is it with sexual orientation, homosexuals, LGBTs vs gender identity?  There is a small minority of intolerant fanatics that uses the government and the court system to bully, intimidate, coerce and force people and businesses who disagree with their life style to bow the knee and serve them or get jailed, sued, forced out of business and or bankrupt.  What is this similar to?  The tyranny sounds similar to terrorists who say convert to Islam or die.
    What assurances are there that K12.com is worth the risk to the kids' time and talent?  From the K12.com web site I have found that: it is national,  publicly traded (LRN (Common Stock,NYSE) $13.26,  Volume  223,519) and that it has some links to various state oversight agencies, policies and laws.  However, it just doesn't seem to have the transparency or provide the confidence that after the parents' due diligence to review and qualify the state's oversight and acceptance; and then qualify the companies administration and their curriculum; and be somewhat assured that the company would not be bought out by a philanthropic foundation for $100 million just to have the standards dumbed down, changed or modified so that the end is worse than the beginning.  For example a few decades ago there was a good, low cost, successful phonics system that was called "Sing and Say".  It was bought out by a education competitor and then dropped from the bookshelves a few years later.  You can google "Sing and Say" and find the curriculum but the materials and methods are not very well advertised.  My real concern is that the FL Dept of Ed. who over sees the states' public school curriculum where all manner of fallacies have crept into most disciplines, what assurances do we have that the free virtual school will not be the same crap in a new bag?

        2. RAOUL BERGER, Incorporation of the Bill of Rights in the 14th Amendment. (click here to read and share) When the Supreme Court twists, turns and destroys the original constitution with it's new "rulings" - it often does so under a doctrine created by the court, called "incorporation."         3. TJ Martinell, When Nullifiers Were Abolitionists: Vermont vs the Fugitive Slave Act.
