FYI, a reminder from a past newsletter that announced and promoted a couple of new laws that positively affects & enables the parents' moral influence over their children while in public schools. How can parents apply this to virtual online schools, teachers and administrators?
- The first law passed is called 2017-74 Florida Student and School Personnel Religious Liberties Law. This is a great law. It is very important for children and parents' to know that they can exercise their religious liberties in school.
- The second law passed the FL legislature in July 1, 2017. The 2017 Bill CS/CS/HB 989 Instructional Materials - The Florida Senate (PDF) (Tallahassee, FL)- [EAGNews.org] Florida parents can now challenge the use of textbooks and other instructional materials in schools, and officials are required to hold an independent hearing to vet their concerns. Florida Citizens' Alliance founder Keith Flaugh told National Public Radio the group pushed for the new law as a means of "getting the school boards to recognize ... the garbage that's in our textbooks." ... "We found them to be full of political indoctrination, religious indoctrination, revisionist history and distorting our founding values and principles, even a significant quantity of pornography," he said.

The Florida Constitution guarantees every person a right to inspect or copy any public record of the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government, unless such record is specifically exempt. The bill prohibits an agency that receives a public record request, to inspect or copy a record, from responding to such request by filing a civil action against an [the] entity making the request. SB 400 was passed by both chambers and sign[ed] by the governor.
