Howdy Folks,
        This is our 2018 August eNewsLetter and we are going to emphasize Home Schooling as has always been presented in August as an option for parents of the regular federally indoctrinated public schools; which is now a pragmatic relief from Common Core a.k.a. Florida Standards.  Here is a link to the August 2016 eNewsLetter with extensive critiques of Common Core and K12.com.  We want to remind parents and citizens about the decades long, most fundamental issue with all public schools as shown in the IndoctriNation movie - FREE .  
        Last year's newsletter was encouraging in that a couple of laws were passed to positively enable and affect parent's influence over their children in public schools.These laws were to become effective this past July 1 and July 1, 2017.

        The first law is called 2017-74 Florida Student and School Personnel Religious Liberties Law. This is a great law.  It is very important as noted in an email with a similar theme.  All manner of inquiry, stage of progress and/or status has been thwarted all year.  Even after the law's due date has passed there has been no communication from any of the creation sources connected with the law.
        The second law passed the FL legislature in July 1, 2017 and the local county school board still has not published the  2017 Bill CS/CS/HB 989 Instructional Materials - The Florida Senate  (PDF)  (Tallahassee, FL)—[EAGNews.org] Florida parents can now challenge the use of textbooks and other instructional materials in schools, and officials are required to hold an independent hearing to vet their concerns. Florida Citizens' Alliance founder Keith Flaugh told National Public Radio the group pushed for the new law as a means of "getting the school boards to recognize ... the garbage that's in our textbooks." ... "We found them to be full of political indoctrination, religious indoctrination, revisionist history and distorting our founding values and principles, even a significant quantity of pornography," he said.
       This can be a good law that allows transparency to the school boards textbook adoption; however, probably not Common Core.  Check out their (PDF) summary of the law.  Here is an article about the textbook adoption law.

       It is not apparent whether this 2017 Bill CS/CS/HB 989 Instructional Materials - The Florida Senate  (PDF or long PDF) law can be applied to Florida's K-12.com online school.

AUGUST   Parent and Community Action Plan | Truth in American Education Are you satisfied with the programs in your schools?  If you aren’t, here are some things you may do.

Take Care of Your Child First:  Do whatever it takes to ensure your child receives a solid education
  • Test your child’s math skills
  • Tutor your child yourself
  • Hire a tutor
  • Enroll your child in a learning center
  • Put your child in a private school
  • Home school your child
    • Single subject, multiple subjects, complete education - there are tons of cheap, quality courses available new and used that are sold by reputable education publishers.
  • Display and maintain a positive attitude about education
